Husavik Town & Godafoss Waterfall

Your Husavik Town & Godafoss Waterfall tour starts with a short drive from Akureyri to Godafoss waterfall. Nicknamed “Beauty” (with Dettifoss being the “Beast”), Godafoss is indeed one of the prettiest waterfalls in Iceland. Its name means “waterfall of the gods” as it is believed that idols of the Pagan gods were thrown into it when Iceland embraced Christianity in 1000 A.D.

We continue north from the waterfall to the welcoming fishing town of Husavik, which is affectionately known as the whale watching capital of Iceland.
At the edge of Skjalfandi Bay, the charming town has colourful houses, a unique church, a good range of facilities and services, as well as fantastic ocean views.
It also achieved international fame in the 2020 Will Ferrell film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

It is possible to add an hour’s relaxing dip at the stylish GeoSea geothermal baths, which offer luxury and sea views in equal measure. It is one of Iceland’s newest geothermal spas and, featuring the soothing mineral qualities of naturally heated seawater, it is already considered one of the country’s best bathing spots.

You can also add a whale watching boat tour to this package, if desired. While whales can be seen all around Iceland, Skjalfandi Bay hosts more individual species and more whales overall than most other places.
