More about the Tour
We start by driving from Ísafjörður to Þingeyri village, on the shore of Dýrafjörður fjord. After a short rest stop, we carry on to the incredible and remote unpaved Svalvogar road, carved deveral decades ago through sheer rock faces using a tiny 70 horsepower Bulldozer known as “the teaspoon”. It was operated by legendary local Elís Kjaran and his son, Ragnar. The meandering track will take us past abandoned farms, wild shorelines, and the memorable mountain range sometimes known as the Westfjords Alps.
