Discover the remarkable landscapes of Lake Myvatn on a Spanish-speaking guided tour combining natural wonders, local history, and fascinating insights. Professional guides will accompany you throughout the journey, making the experience both enjoyable and informative.
Your excursion begins at Akureyri Port, where a Spanish-speaking guide will welcome you before you board a comfortable bus for the journey to Skutustadir. From here, admire panoramic views of Lake Myvatn and its surroundings, famous for their distinctive pseudo-craters formed by steam explosions thousands of years ago.
The next stop is the nearby Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, an extraordinary volcanic landscape featuring towering lava pillars, caves, and natural arches created more than 2,000 years ago. This fascinating area also holds a special place in Icelandic folklore, with local legends connecting its unusual formations to trolls and the traditional Yule Lads.
Continue to the geothermal area of Namafjall Hverir, where bubbling mud pools, active fumaroles, and vividly coloured ground reveal the intense volcanic forces beneath Iceland’s surface. The combination of sulphur-rich deposits and rising steam creates a striking landscape unlike anywhere else.
Before returning to Akureyri, visit Godafoss, also known as the Waterfall of the Gods. Measuring approximately 12 metres high and 30 metres wide, this impressive waterfall is renowned for both its natural beauty and historical significance. Take a relaxing break nearby with a cup of coffee or tea and a kleina, a traditional Icelandic pastry, while enjoying the surrounding scenery.
After the visit to Godafoss, the bus returns to Akureyri, where you can choose to end your excursion in the city centre.
