More about the Tour

Your tour starts with a short drive to the Godafoss waterfall. Nicknamed “Beauty” (with Dettifoss being the “Beast”), Godafoss is indeed one of the prettiest waterfalls in Iceland. Its name means “waterfall of the gods” as it is believed that idols of the old Gods were thrown into it when Iceland embraced Christianity in 1000 A.D.

We continue east past the Lake Myvatn to the Jokulsargljufur canyon and Dettifoss waterfall, some of the most spectacular sights in North Iceland.
100m wide and 44m down, with an average water flow of 193 m³/s, you will hear the rumble of Europe’s most powerful waterfall long before you see it.
The glacial river canyon stretches for 25 kilometres and is the northernmost part of the Vatnajokull National Park.

On the way back we will stop for photos in the Lake Myvatn area.
Myvatn is Iceland’s fourth largest lake and surrounded by diverse natural wonders including the Hverir geothermal area, the Skutustadagigar pseudocraters and the Dimmuborgir lava park.
