More about the Tour

Spend a day exploring the highlights of Iceland’s South Coast on this excursion from Reykjavik, with a visit to the spectacular Katla Ice Cave as the grand finale.

Your first stops are two of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. At Seljalandsfoss, follow the path that leads right behind the curtain of falling water for a unique view of the falls from the inside. A little further east, Skogafoss thunders down from a 60-metre cliff, and your guide will share the local legend of the Viking treasure said to be hidden behind it.

Next, head to Vikurfjara, near the village of Vik, where black sand stretches as far as the eye can see. Walk along the shore and admire the basalt sea stacks rising out of the Atlantic waves.

Then comes the highlight of the day: the Katla Ice Cave, hidden beneath the Myrdalsjokull glacier, above the famous Katla volcano. Fitted with crampons and a helmet, you’ll step inside the glacier to discover a world of blue ice streaked with black volcanic ash, a striking reminder of the forces that shape Iceland.

Along the way, enjoy the ever-changing scenery of the South Coast: green farmland, towering cliffs, glacier tongues and vast lava fields.

At the end of the day, you’ll head back to Reykjavik with your camera full of photos and your head full of unforgettable memories.
