• The breathtaking Ketildalir valleys
• The picturesque fishing village of Bildudalur
• Open-air exhibition at Selardalur
• Optional: Sea Monster Museum in Bildudalur
This tour takes you off the beaten path to some of the most beautiful and remote valleys of the Southern Westfjords.
We start by crossing some scenic mountain passes to Bildudalur. Nestled between the steep mountains with views of the great Arnarfjordur, it is one of the most picturesque villages in the Westfjords.
From Bildudalur, we take the lesser-travelled gravel road through the breathtaking Ketildalir valleys. The road goes along some steep mountainsides and cliffs, with alternating views of lush green valleys, the infinite ocean and golden sand beaches. At the end of the road is Selardalur where you will find an open-air exhibition of quirky sculptures.
Legend has it that Arnarfjordur, and in particular the Ketildalir valleys, is home to a variety of sea monsters. In case we don’t spot any monsters on our tour, on the way back, we can stop to visit the Sea Monster Museum dedicated to these creatures.
