Embark on an epic Icelandic road trip filled with breathtaking landscapes and fascinating history. Starting from Eskifjörður, we’ll drive through the charming Reyðarfjörður village, then ascend over the mountains to reach the bustling town of Egilsstaðir.

From there, we’ll continue to Breiðdalsvík, taking the scenic Breiðdalsheiði mountain road. Along this route, you’ll spot a century-old road construction nestled beside the modern roadway—a fascinating glimpse into Iceland’s past.

In Jórvík, we’ll explore abandoned farms that tell the story of how Icelanders lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This area also offers stunning geological features and vibrant summer flora.

Next, we’ll be enchanted by the cascading waters of Flögufoss and Beljandi waterfalls. Reaching these hidden gems requires a bit of adventure, as we’ll travel rough roads and even cross a river below Beljandi—where no bridges exist, adding an extra thrill to our journey.

Our adventure continues with a stop at Heydalir’s local church, a perfect example of Iceland’s rural charm and rich cultural heritage.

Finally, we’ll head toward Fáskrúðsfjörður, with a memorable stop at Hafnarnes Lighthouse. Once home to a lively fishing village, the area now holds the haunting remains of old houses, offering a glimpse into the region’s storied past. From here, we’ll enjoy stunning views of the island Skrúður, steeped in troll legends.

As we drive back into the picturesque Reyðarfjörður fjord and return to Eskifjörður, you’ll carry with you stories, sights, and the unforgettable spirit of Iceland’s wild beauty.
