Secrets of Arnardalur – Food & nature with food tasting

The trip begins by driving directly to Arnardalur and on the way there, it is told about the historical importance of fish processing in the Westfjords, the drying tradition that has been used here for centuries and is actually still used. Also stories about Arnardalur and its connection to seafaring and the struggle for survival in earlier times.

In Arnardalur where the fish is processed the passengers are invited to taste the famous Icelandic dry fish (haddock and Atlantic Wolffish) with butter and even shark for those who want to taste it.

Next stop is at Arnarnes where there are a lot of seabirds and sometimes even some seals. Súðavík, an interesting fishing village, is also on the schedule.

On the way back the last stop is at the waterfall Bunárfoss where passengers can walk around, take some pictures and are offered some refreshment.

At the end of the trip the driver will drive along the main street of Ísafjarðarbær. The guide will tell the passengers about the most important thing from the town’s history and passengers can also shop before heading to the ship.
