Eskifjordur is a beautiful coastal town situated in a small inlet of Reydarfjordur, the longest and widest of the Eastfjords.
The Holmatindur mountain towers over the town and is the pride of the local people.
Established by the Danish in the 18th century as a trading post, the town grew with the herring boom and today is home to over a 1000 people.
Fishing and fish processing being the main industry and Eskja, one of Iceland’s leading fish companies is the main employer.
Its close proximity to the port of Seydisfjordur offers access to the same natural highlights of the Eastfjords with several options for some spectacular natural sights, charming fishing villages, hiking and bird watching.
