    More about the Tour

** Please choose Seydisfjordur Ferry House in the pick up and drop off location and mention your cruise ship name**

Your journey begins with pickup in Seyðisfjörður or Egilsstaðir, followed by a scenic drive through the Eastfjords.
Along the way, your local guide will share stories of the land, its people, and the natural forces that have shaped this remote region.

Our first stop is Rjúkandi, the tallest waterfall in East Iceland. A short, easy walk brings you to this impressive cascade – a perfect introduction to the area’s dramatic landscapes.

From there, we travel into Jökuldalur valley and set out on a 30-minute hike to the eastern side of Stuðlagil Canyon. Here, towering basalt columns rise above the glacier-fed Jökla River, which, when clear, shines in a vivid turquoise against the dark volcanic rock.

For those preferring less walking, the canyon can also be viewed from the west side, where a staircase leads to a viewing platform.

Once hidden beneath glacial waters and revealed only after the construction of the Kárahnjúkar hydro-dam, Stuðlagil has quickly become one of Iceland’s most captivating sights. This private tour offers you an unhurried, personal way to experience it – with time for photos, reflection, and stories that bring the landscape to life.
Whether you’re a photographer, nature enthusiast, or curious traveler, this is a rare chance to connect with Iceland’s raw and untouched beauty.

*Please note that the river takes on a grey-brown colour during overflow is most common from the beginning of August until October – but can occur at other times too
