As a disabled passenger, I was especially grateful for the care and consideration Sonja showed throughout. She went above and beyond to ensure my safety and comfort, making every effort to help me enjoy the experience without stress.

The Dynjandi waterfall had an accessible viewing point at the base, which meant I could take it all in without needing to attempt the more challenging upper path (which others said was worth it, but definitely requires sturdy footwear and some physical stamina due to the slippiness of the rocks ). The toilets at the waterfall site had huge queues because the site was packed with big coaches - not our guide’s fault and she did warn us. The local authorities need to quadruple (at least) the number of toilets at the site as everyone was frustrated and complaining about this.

On the way back, we visited a peaceful and historically rich farmstead for our lunch stop. This had some charming turf-roof houses and a selection of cakes which gave a taste of local heritage and hospitality. It was also down a dirt track road which gave an insight into its remoteness and had the huge advantage of being well away from the massive coaches of tourists. We were the only people there and that was a real treat.

We also made some other stops during the day for photos. The way back was scenic. Sonja’s knowledge of the area — from folklore to geology — really brought the landscape to life.

I can’t recommend this tour highly enough, especially if you want a personal, thoughtful, and visually spectacular introduction to the Westfjords.
